No, all students and levels are welcome! You will develop your own unique voice in a group setting that is safe and supportive.
Yes, each of the West High Choirs is a year-long course that counts for visual/performing arts credits and fulfills UC/CSU a-g course requirements.
Absolutely! We have members in all of these activities.
We make it a priority to introduce students to a wide variety of styles and cultures: pop, classical, jazz, musical theatre, gospel, and folk.
You're already in choir as long as you've signed up for the class. No one gets cut from the team. You will automatically be moved into the appropriate choir after all auditions are over.
These are initialisms that represent the different vocal parts included in an ensemble or musical piece. SSA stands for first sopranos, second sopranos and altos. SSAA stands for first sopranos, second sopranos, first altos and second altos. SSA/SSAA choirs are usually women's choirs with only female voices. SATB stands for sopranos, altos, tenors and basses. SATB choirs are usually mixed choirs with male and female voices.
Yes, we would love to have you in multiple choirs. This is a popular option for students who are interested in pursuing music-related degrees in the future and other students who simply love music.
