Semester Honor Roll Recognitions
West High recognizes students each semester with the following recognitions: Honor Roll (3.5-3.9 weighted GPA and citizenship), Principal’s Honor Roll (4.0+ weighted GPA & citizenship), Citizenship (3+ ‘E’s, no ‘U’s and below a 3.5 GPA), and Perfect Attendance (attending school every day, on time, to all periods).

Warriors Represent West on the Chemistry National Olympiad Team
On May 27th, the Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society (ACS) presented the 2020 Chemistry Educational Awards for high school students. Students from Mr. Williams's AP Chem class were invited to participate in the ACS High School Olympiad tests. The top 15 of 658 scorers on the ACS Local Exam qualified for the National Exam. The top 149 of 778 scorers on the National Exam part I qualified for the National Exam part II. The top 20 of 150 scorers on the total National Exam (parts I and II) qualified for a National Study Camp.
Two West High students qualified for the National Exam part II, placing them in the top 1/2% at the national level. (National Exam part II scores are not yet available.)
Sunjae Kim finished in 3rd place (tie) with a score of 55/60 on the Local Exam, qualified for both parts of the National Exam, and scored 47/60 on the National Exam part I.
Randall Scharpf finished in 6th place with a score of 53/60 on the Local Exam, qualified for both parts of the National Exam, and scored 45/60 on the National Exam part I.
Both students received Certificates of Achievement for Overall Scorer, and for ACS National Olympiad Team and Semi-Finalist, plus a cash award.
