Teacher Induction Program

TUSD Teacher Induction Program
“Committed to Supporting Teachers to Become Lifelong Reflective Learners”

Torrance Unified School District provides a Teacher Induction Program to all full-time contracted employees that hold a Preliminary Single Subject, Multiple Subject, and/or Education Specialist Credential. There are no fees charged to the participants. Teachers may choose to participate in the TUSD Teacher Induction Program or they may participate in another Commission-approved program.

The Torrance Unified School District Induction program is a two year job-embedded, state-approved, program designed to provide individualized support and guidance to new teachers in their first years of teaching. Teachers are offered support by trained mentors to assist them in working through experiences that will support individualized teacher development and growth toward mastery of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP). With the support of their mentor(s), teachers will collaboratively create and implement an Individual Learning Plan (ILP) and collect evidence along their journey to demonstrate their growth toward mastery of the CSTPs to earn their Professional Clear Credential.
