In Torrance Unified, the Career Technical Education (CTE) program provides students with the knowledge, experiences and skills they need to be prepared for college and careers. In CTE courses, students experience hands-on learning and industry experiences which gives purpose to learning by emphasizing real-world skills and practical knowledge within a selected career focus.
Students in a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway program take a specialized sequence of courses, (a pathway), which provides rigorous academic and technical knowledge and skills aligned with a specific career focus. CTE pathways range from 2 to 4 years in length and culminate with a capstone level course. Courses within the same CTE pathway are designed to be taken in sequential order to ensure the development of deeper knowledge and skills over time.
Torrance Unified currently offers a variety of CTE programs at each of its high schools including:
Agriculture
& Natural Resources
Building
& Construction Trades
Health Science
& Medical Technology
Hospitality, Tourism,
& Recreation
*Please note that not all 16 CTE pathway programs are offered at each our high schools.
