Service Clubs
American Red Cross (ARC)
South High School's American Red Cross Club is a Community Service Club that oversees a Fall and Spring Blood Drive at South High School. In addition, they work with the local American Red Cross Organization on community-based projects benefiting the South Bay.
Apollo Athena Service Club
South High School's Apollo Athena Club is the oldest club on campus, and has a long history of service to school. This club is responsible for maintaining the "S" on the Hill, as well as serving as hosts to a variety of school events including Spartan Laurels Achievement Awards, Back to School Night, College Fairs, Baccalaureate and Graduation.
Cakes For Kids
Cakes For Kids is a Community Service Organization that is tied to the Share Our Strength Foundation. This club's purpose is to raise awareness and money so that no child goes hungry. Cakes For Kids uses baking as its primary mechanism to raise funds to support "No Kid Hungry" by baking cookies and cupcakes, and then selling them to students, faculty and staff after school. All proceeds benefit Share Our Strength.
California Scholarship Federation (CSF)
The California Scholarship Federation is an organization whose mission is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and community service among high school students in California. Eligible students become members by submitting applications based on their report card grades. Membership is for one semester, and membership drives are held each semester within established periods dictated by the State bylaws. CSF members organize and execute South High's after school tutoring program that takes place Monday through Thursday in the Library. This program allows students to receive free tutoring from CSF students to improve their grades.
Connect Club
South High's Connect Club is the gold standard when it comes to helping our incoming Freshmen classes transition to high school. Connect groups all freshmen with upper classmen "mentors" who will guide them through their freshmen year with ease. Connect has a variety of events that include Freshmen Orientation, after school mixers, night time social events, study skills workshops and much, much more. This club's purpose revolves around helping freshmen get connected to South High, be successful and remain engaged throughout the four years of high school.
Interact Club
KIWINS Club
KIWIN'S performs service deeds with fellow members to improve their schools and communities. Local service gives KIWIN'S members the satisfaction of seeing the results of their efforts.Members learn how to lead and stand for what’s right through service and volunteerism. In partnership with Torrance Kiwanis club, South High students are making a positive impact as they serve others at schools and within the community.
National Honor Society
South High's National Honor Society (NHS) elevates the school’s commitment to the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four pillars are associated with membership in the organization. The National Honor Society requires service to the community, school, or other organizations. The time spent working on these projects contributes towards the monthly service hour requirement. There is an application process for membership in this organization.
