Graduation Requirements
District policy requires the following:
- Each student must have a minimum of 220 credits and have met other Torrance District criteria to be eligible to graduate and participate in the graduation ceremony.
- Each student will be enrolled in at least six classes during each semester in attendance, with the exception that seniors who are on track to graduate may take five classes.
- Each student shall obtain credit as follows:
Mathematics............................. 20 credits
Science .................................... 20 credits
English ..................................... 40 credits
Social Studies .......................... 30 credits (10 world studies, 10 American studies, 5 government, 5 economics)
Health Education...................... 5 credits
​Physical Education................... 20 credits (required in grades 9 and 10) Fine Arts or Foreign Language 10 credits (a full year of one foreign language or one year of fine arts) - Limitations on Credits Counting Toward Graduation:
Class Aide ..............................................10 credits maximum
Work Experience (Juniors and Seniors) 20 credits maximum
Physical Education................................ 40 credits maximum of regular P.E
