ROBOTICS/TORBOTS

Robotics gives high school students the opportunity to design and build cutting edge robots. They learn valuable engineering skills, and having fun doing it. The South High Robotics Club participates in various robotics competitions at the local, state, and national level. This program combines the excitement of engineering and the fun of technology in a competitive academic setting. This program has already competed in both Regional Competitions and World Championships!

The program's founding principles are:

INNOVATION
We focus on innovation and aim for the most efficient designs in our projects. Our engineering team creates ideas that help the rest of the team design functions around the common goal of success in real life situations.

CREATIVITY
Our programming team uses Java to write the code for our robots, and fixes all of the problems that can't be fixed with a hammer or a wrench.

PERSISTENCE
Our Business Operations team handles our finances and sponsorships. They are hardworking and adaptive to the situation the team goes through. They also help make sure that there will be enough money to make the year productive.

Team 1197 has won many awards throughout our team history.  Most recently, we were a Regional Finalist at the 2020 Los Angeles Regional and won the Chairman's Award at the 2020 Sacramento Regional for our outreach and impact in the community.
