Hello Saxon Seniors, I will be editing and updating the above linked document as needed, please check back often

I would like to introduce myself, Mrs. McKelvey, College & Career Counseling Coordinator - K1 - most of you should know me, some may not.  As we begin this year remotely I am putting together this information to assist you with your college application process.  If I have left off anything, feel free to reach out and let me know! I will always be available to you via email

I will be scheduling workshops for financial aid, college applications and anything else that you may need.  It is important that you check your email often, the only way I have to communicate with you will be via email.  They will be from NHS College & Career. I always cc parents so they will know what is going on, however it is important that you advocate for yourself.  If you have any questions, please email me directly, do not expect your parent to do it for you.

Most colleges and universities will have a deadline, generally it is November 30th.  Please check each school directly to be certain.  There are also early decision dates if you are applying for ED.

I am listing the UC, CSU and Community College application websites.  I am also adding the Common Application which is used primarily for private and out of state schools. Testing and scholarships information is available also.

Please visit websites of the different schools you are interested in to understand what you will need for the application i.e., transcripts, test scores, letters of recommendation, essays etc. If you require a letter of recommendation (UC and CSU do not)  from your teacher and/or your counselor, you MUST give a minimum of 2 weeks notice.  You must also complete the “senior brag sheet” in your naviance account (found in the “about me” tab).  Then you email your teacher/counselor to request the letter.

WHEN CREATING COLLEGE APPLICATION, SAT, FAFSA, ACT ACCOUNTS ETC.  DO NOT USE YOUR @ETUSD EMAIL ADDRESS.  BE SURE TO CREATE A PROFESSIONAL EMAIL ADDRESS FOR ALL YOUR COLLEGE INFORMATION EXAMPLE  -  Colleges will communicate with you via email, so please be sure to check it often.  This will also help you keep track of everything in one place!
