COVID-19 Update #3

COVID-19 Update #3

As we closely monitor the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the health and well-being of our students, staff, and families remains our top priority. Though there are some cases of COVID-19 in LA County, the risk to the region remains low. There are no known cases within TUSD and our schools remain open.

The decision to suspend or close schools will be made with input and directions from county public health officials. We have had conversations with our District leadership teams, teachers, and staff to plan for potential school closures. Should such a decision be necessary, we will notify our staff and families (via email) with additional information and instructions.

The information and circumstances surrounding COVID-19 continue to evolve and change frequently, however the risk to the general public remains low. We will continue to provide updates to parents and staff when appropriate.

Please rely on credible sources for information such as local and state public health agencies. In order to assist with the gathering of information, the District website, tusd.org, has a dedicated webpage where we updated information regularly and provide links to other public health agency websites and resources. Please visit https://www.tusd.org/parents/student-health-resources for current information regarding COVID-19 and we will provide updates as necessary.

Meanwhile, we continue to remind parents, students, and our staff of general preventative measures that should be taken during this time:

Avoid contact with people who are ill.

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw it in the trash.

Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.

Stay at home if you are ill. If someone is running a fever, it is required they remain at home until the fever has been gone for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medicines.

Contact your health provider if you are concerned about any flu-like symptoms you have.

Together we can work together to ensure our school communities stay healthy.
