Torrance Unified School District Recognized as
“BEST in the South Bay” for 2021
Torrance, CA – The votes are in and Daily Breeze and The Beach Reporter readers agree that the Torrance Unified School District is the “South Bay’s BEST!” The annual contest, which the newspapers have been running for 30 years, gathered votes from readers, both print and online subscribers, in April 2021. Readers submitted write-in and online ballots for various categories offered by the newspapers.
“As President of the Torrance School Board, I know it takes an incredible team and a caring environment to have a successful school district,” comments Betty Lieu. “I’m thrilled our South Bay population voted Torrance Unified as the BEST school district! During an immensely challenging year, our parents and educators joined together to teach our students during a worldwide pandemic. We are a resilient community that will continue to put the interest of our students first.”
In addition to the District being recognized as the “BEST”, North High School and West High School were voted Favorite Public High Schools while Edison, Hickory, Lincoln, and Seaside Elementary Schools were recognized as Favorite Public Elementary Schools.
“With the number of quality public schools in the South Bay region, it is truly incredible to be distinguished as the BEST,” comments TUSD Superintendent, Dr. Tim Stowe. “This recognition is especially meaningful after the year we have all experienced. It highlights and validates the combined efforts of our teachers, staff, administrators, and parents. Collectively, we work tirelessly to ensure our students receive the support necessary to feel safe and thrive.”
