2020-2021 School Year Update

2020-2021 School Year Update

Dear TUSD Staff and Families,

Today, Governor Newsom addressed the physical reopening of schools in California. He stated schools may not reopen for in-person instruction until the county is removed from the State’s COVID-19 watch-list for 14 days. Los Angeles County remains on this list, hence, TUSD will remain physically closed per this mandate.

It is still necessary for parents, if they choose, to opt in to the Distance Learning model by Monday, July 20, 2020. If you would like your child(ren) to participate in the Blended Learning model, no action is necessary.

Until schools physically reopen, the school day will look nearly identical for both instructional models, as Blended Learning can be delivered virtually. The biggest difference is the students in the Blended Learning model will return to school when it is safe. Students in the Distance Learning model will continue to learn from home as outlined in the Parent Guide emailed to parents earlier this week (include link).

TUSD will continue to provide regular updates and additional information about the start of the school year as plans progress.

Instruction for all our students will begin on August 26, 2020.

Please know that our employees are working hard to design robust and engaging learning experiences for all students.

Sincerely,

Tim Stowe
Interim Superintendent
