Dear TUSD Families,
On Monday night, July 13, 2020, our Board of Education approved the instructional delivery models for the 2020-2021 school year: a distance learning model for families wishing to learn from home five days per week and a blended learning model for families wishing to safely return to school for part of the week and learn from home part of the week.
Click here, A Guide for Parents was created to provide you with key information to help you choose the model that is best for your family. While we know this is a difficult decision and many factors need to be considered, we are asking parents to review the attached document thoroughly prior to making a decision.
In order to begin our plans for designing school schedules and teacher assignments, we will need parents to OPT-IN to Distance Learning by Monday, July 20, 200 (Please see page 11 of this Guide for instructions on how to opt-in). If we do not hear back from you by July 20, 2020, your student will automatically be placed in the Blended Learning option. Principals will be sharing site-specific details with families in the coming weeks. Whether schools are allowed to physically open next month or not, the first day of instruction is August 26, 2020.
While you need to seriously consider this as a decision for the school year, we are committed to being as flexible as possible, space permitting, in allowing students to change models at an appropriate time in the year that does not disrupt their learning.
On August 3, 2020 at 7 pm there will be a Special Meeting of the Board of Education where the Board will discuss the potential physical reopening of schools.
