TUSD Recognized as 2017-1018 Honor Roll District

Torrance, Ca – We are excited to share, that our District has been selected by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE)  as one of 24 public school districts in California to receive the title of 2017 Honor Roll School District.

The Honor Roll recognition program is part of a national effort to identify high-performing schools and highlight successful practices that improve outcomes for students. School districts receiving this distinction have consistently demonstrated high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.  For school districts with high schools, the Honor Roll recognition also includes measures of college readiness.

“We are so proud to be recognized by education and business leaders in California as an Honor Roll School District,” comments TUSD Superintendent, Dr. George Mannon. “Our teachers and administrators work tirelessly to create student-centric learning environments where every student succeeds. We work collaboratively with our stakeholders to continuously improve our practices. We are pleased to see our hard work and dedication translating to positive outcomes for all our students.”

In addition to our District being recognized as an Honor Roll School, the following schools in our District have also been recognized for their academic achievements: Bert M. Lynn Middle, Casimir Middle, Edison Elementary, Edward J. Richardson Middle, Fern Elementary, Howard Wood Elementary, Jefferson Middle, John Adams Elementary, Joseph Arnold Elementary, Philip Magruder Middle, Seaside Elementary, Torrance Elementary, Towers Elementary, Walteria Elementary, Yukon Elementary.  Per CBEE national data research, these schools demonstrated clear, specific learning objectives aligned to college and career readiness, along with evidence-based instructional practices; established system-wide mission of college and career readiness for all students; invested in human capital; maintained data and assessment systems to monitor school and student performance; and deployed resources and guidance to support schools’ efforts to prepare all students for college and career.
