Friday Update

Dear TUSD Families,

I hope you have had a good week and that you are all staying safe. I am reaching out to let you know that we continue to plan for the upcoming school year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this process, the health and well-being of our students, their families, and our staff remain at the forefront of our decision-making. This week, we asked parents to commit to one of two instructional models for the 2020-2021 school year. I recognize this was not an easy decision for families.

We had 36% of our families select Distance Learning and our schools are now taking on the challenging task of designing their master schedules. For those parents of elementary students in the Blended Learning model, you should expect an email from your principal regarding your preference for an AM or PM schedule. Our school sites will do their best to accommodate family preference. Please be patient as our site administrators work through this process.

Throughout this health crisis, our decision-making has been guided by the trust placed in us by our families and the responsibility we have to provide our students with a world-class education, whether they are physically in school or learning from home. We will be providing another update to our Board of Education and community on August 3, 2020 at 7 pm. Please check our website for further information: https://www.tusd.org/boe/board-meetings.

Thank you for your support, patience, and care as we continue to plan for what will be an unconventional yet rewarding school year for all.

Sincerely,

Tim Stowe
Interim Superintendent
