Question #3: Why Do I Need to Take the CASAS Test?
The CASAS (Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System) test helps TAS determine your skills level.
- All High School Diploma, GED/HiSET, and ESL students must take the CASAS test.
- Students take the CASAS test twice per term/semester - 1 pre-test (at the beginning of the term) and 1 post-test (at the end of the term).
- The pre-test determines your skills level, so TAS can place you in the most appropriate class for your level.
- The post-test assesses if a student has learned or “made gains” in their skills level, and determines if a student is ready to move on to the next class / next level.
- There is no “pass or fail” on the CASAS test - the scores help TAS assess your knowledge and skills, so that we can put you in the most appropriate class and set you up for learning and success.
