Volunteer Information

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with South High School. You will find the link below for the TUSD Volunteer Application.

Before beginning the application, you need to have your government-issued ID, and a TB test. Keep in mind for the TB test, it must have the name and address of the medical provider, as well as their signature and the date. There is also an online volunteer training that you must complete. You will upload that certificate as well. Once approved, you will receive a notification email. Your volunteer status is good for the remainder of the school year.

This is for volunteers who want to assist in one of our programs on a regular basis, as opposed to a Visitor Badge that can be obtained at the Security desk in the main office, for a one-time campus visit.

Also be aware there is a more involved process for Tier 2 Volunteers, which would involve fingerprinting and a background check. Effective July 1, 2026, any volunteer wishing to serve in a Tier 2 capacity must complete the additional steps before volunteering:

  • DOJ Background Check-The district will cover the cost of the Department of Justice background check.
  • LiveScan Fingerprinting- Volunteers are responsible for completing their LiveScan fingerprinting at a certified LiveScan location and for covering the associated cost.
  • Car insurance must be provided

Tier 2 activities that require this clearance include:

  • One on one tutoring or mentoring
  • Chaperone to events such as off-campus field trips and overnight trips
  • Driver of students to events
  • Anyone who will not be directly supervised by a school employee

Important Deadline Reminder:

Because a volunteer interested in a Tier 2 role must complete additional steps, it is recommended that they begin the process at least 6 weeks prior to their intended volunteer start date or event.
