Dual Enrollment

Torrance Unified School District and South High School are proud to be partners of El Camino College for our Dual Enrollment program.

What is Dual Enrollment?

Dual enrollment allows high school students in grades 9-12 to take college-level courses for both high school and college credit, with enrollment fees waived. Students can take courses in two ways: in a traditional setting alongside adult students, or through a partnership where classes are held at their high school. The program provides a head start on college, allows for a wider course selection, and can lead to earning transferable credit.

Key Aspects of the Program

  • Free College Credit: Enrollment fees are waived for eligible K-12 students.
  • Earned Credits: Students receive both high school and college credit simultaneously.
  • College-Level Courses: Students gain experience with college-level rigor and content.
  • Wide Course Variety: The program allows students to take a broader range of subjects.
  • Transferable Credit: Earning credit through dual enrollment provides a head start on general education requirements for a future college degree.

Who is Eligible?

  • Grades 11-12: The program is primarily for high school students in their junior and senior years.
  • Grades 9-10: Eligibility for younger students is under limited circumstances and may require additional approval from an El Camino College dean.

How to Apply for an El Camino Class

  • Go to this link to find the process and the steps for admission
  • Please note that the dual enrollment form is no longer required - El Camino now uses a platform called dualenroll.com.
  • For classes that take place on campus, students still must complete the application, create an account, and add the relevant semester. However, they do NOT need to add the class.  We take care of that for them!
