Business Finance & Accounting

*Some courses require more than a single term to meet all certificate requirements and to complete the training programs. Grade averages and minimum attendance, specific to each class, must be met in order to receive certification.

Accounting 1 (Intro to Accounting)

IMPORTANT: Students must know the basics of operating a computer & using Windows for this class.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attendance: Students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance in this class.
  • English Level: ESL Students must be Levels 4-6 to take this class.
  • Textbook: Textbook information and syllabus will be given on the first day of class. Textbook is required and must be purchased on your own. Textbook cost is not included in the course fee.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

  • Designed for non-accounting majors, this course covers the full accounting cycle--from transactions and journal entries to T-accounts and trial balances.
  • Students will prepare financial statements, including adjustments and closing entries, and gain a basic understanding of financial statement analysis.

 

Accounting 2 (Excel for Accounting)

IMPORTANT: Students must know the basics of operating a computer & using Windows for this class.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: Certificate of Completion for Accounting 1 AND Microsoft Excel, OR prior completion of a bookkeeping/accounting class.
  • Attendance: Students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance in this class.
  • English Level: ESL Students must be Levels 4-6 to take this class.
  • Textbook: Textbook information and syllabus will be given on the first day of class. Textbook is required and must be purchased on your own. Textbook cost is not included in the course fee.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

  • Expanding on Accounting 1, this hands-on course uses Excel to apply key accounting principles.
  • Topics include the full accounting cycle, inventory costing, bank reconciliations, accounts receivable analysis, depreciation, payroll, and bond amortization.

 

QuickBooks Online 1 - Basics

IMPORTANT: Students must know the basics of operating a computer & using Windows for this class.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: Certificate of Completion for Accounting 1, OR work experience in bookkeping/accounting.
  • Attendance: Students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance in this class.
  • English Level: ESL Students must be Levels 4-6 to take this class.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

  • This hands-on course introduces students to QuickBooks Online, including company setup, customer and vendor management, and bank and credit card reconciliations--essentials for small business financial management.

 

QuickBooks Online 2 - Comprehensive

IMPORTANT: Students must know the basics of operating a computer & using Windows for this class.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: Certificate of Completion for QuickBooks Online 1, OR work experience in bookkeping/accounting.
  • Attendance: Students must maintain a minimum of 80% attendance in this class.
  • English Level: ESL Students must be Levels 4-6 to take this class.

  • Expand your QuickBooks Online skills with advanced features, including inventory management, budgeting, payroll, and Balance Sheet accounts.
  • Learn to customize the platform, use classes and locations, and complete the full accounting cycle with adjusting and closing entries.
