Summer School
High school summer school offers students the opportunity to recover credits, engage in enrichment opportunities, or get ahead in their coursework. There are a variety of summer school options available, and students must register themselves for the program of their choice. It’s important that students talk with their school counselor to discuss options and complete any required forms. See below for more information.
Please Note: All summer school courses must be finished and official transcripts submitted the counseloing office (student's counselor) by registration day in August. You can email it!
Credit Recovery or retake:
- Students may need to retake courses during summer if they earned a D or an F during the school year.
- While a D is a passing grade for earning credits towards high school graduation, a grade of a C or higher is required for CSU/UC (a-g) admissions eligibility.
- For World Language and Math courses, students need a C or higher in both semesters to move onto the next year.
- Students should consult with their counselor if unsure about what courses they need to retake.
- Check TUSD Graduation & A-G Requirements Comparison to make sure you are on track for your post-secondary plans.
Taking courses for advancement:
The TUSD school board policy allows students to earn up to 40 credits for advancement toward graduation through outside educational institutions over the four years of high school. However, courses are limited to a maximum of 10 credits per academic discipline (English, Social Studies, Science, Mathematics, World Language, PE, Fine Art, etc.).
