These are the central values upon which Edison's culture is built. Teachers and staff model these values in their interactions with students and with each other, and reward students when they demonstrate these values through their words and actions.

Edison's Staff

Edison serves a student population of about 500 students. Edison's teaching staff  is comprised of 19 highly-qualified classroom teachers (TK-5th), all of whom are assigned to teach within their credentialed area. Class sizes for transitional kindergarten through grade five average 27 students per class. Teachers and students are supported by numerous others, including Reading, Math, and English Language Learning (ELL) intervention specialists, Special Education teachers and para-educators, the Autism Spectrum Services and Inclusion Support Torrance Team (ASSISTT), Speech Pathologists, a music teacher, P.E. teachers, and an incredibly dedicated support staff. Teachers and auxiliary personnel are evaluated by the school principal on a regular basis.

Accountability

The California Department of Education maintains student accountability and assessment data for all schools in California. You may view and download demographic, assessment, accountability, and financial reports directly from the CDE's website by visiting Edison's School Profile. You may also view Edison's Performance Overview on the California School Dashboard.

Edison Elementary School was named as an Honor Roll School for 2019-2020 by Educational Results Partnership (ERP), and the Campaign for Business & Education Excellence (CBEE). After an extensive analysis of student data for every public school and district in California, Edison stood above the rest in getting our students to grade level proficiency and beyond. Each year, CBEE presents this award to individual schools and districts that have excelled in raising student achievement and closing achievement gaps.
