UNIVERSAL BENEFITS APPLICATION - The winner will be announced later as the Meal Benefit was extended to October 31.

We are asking all families to complete the Universal Benefits application to ensure that deserving families receive benefits in the future.  All breakfast and lunches are free to TUDS families this year, but in order to continue free meals, we need everyone to complete the application.

Thank you to all who participated in the Skechers Walk
Thank you to all who registered to walk in the Skechers Pier to Pier Friendship on Sunday, October 19. Edison had 74 registered walkers (virtual and in-person), and we raised $2,295 this year! I hope you all had an incredible and unforgettable time walking together.

Students should come to school dressed in their costumes
It is best if your child wears their costume over clothes
No weapons or anything that resembles a weapon at school even if part of their costume
Costume masks can only be worn during the parade - not in the hallways or in class.
Parents are welcome to attend the parade as guests.

Math-A-Thon begins TODAY! Support our Fall Fundraiser

Collect pledges and donations for your child’s upcoming hard work on their Math-a-thon test from NOW until November 14th.

Here’s how it works: 

Step1: Visit https://app.99pledges.com/fund/EdisonMath2025 or scan the QR Code.

Step2: Search your child’s name to locate their personal link. Share this link with family & friends to gather flat donations & per-problem pledges. If you prefer to gather in-person pledges or donations, please use the attached form.

Step3: Encourage your child to do their best on the math worksheet during class on Friday, November 14.  Make-ups can be given the next week, if necessary.

Step4: Your child receives their score and then tells their pledges how they did! Collect & return manual pledges to the office by Friday, November 21st.

Step5: Earn cool prizes for both collecting donations and doing math!

Edison Library Began October 13 - Some Volunteers still needed! 

Check your child’s backpack weekly for their library book & read with them!  

Library books should be returned weekly on your child’s library day.  If another library slip is needed in order to check out books, download it here and return it to the teacher or main office.
The library is run by volunteers like you! We need 1-2 volunteers for each class.  Volunteers are still needed for Crofton, Hopf, Suzuki, Tabaldo, Talleda, Matsumoto, Hinze,  If interested please reach out to Carissa Baumhart at baumhart.carissa@edisonelementarypta.org

Red Ribbon Week is next week 10/27-10/31
Red Ribbon Week promotes drug awareness and drug use prevention.  We are celebrating Red Ribbon Week with the theme “Life is a Puzzle, Solve it Drug Free” and some Spirit Week Fun!
Mon - “Eagles are Proud to be Drug Free”  Wear as much red as possible (shirts, shoes, socks!)
Tue - “Turn Your Back on Drugs”  Wear your clothes backwards
Wed - “Use Your Head and Stay Drug Free”  Wear a crazy hat or hair style
Thu - “Don’t Let Drugs Steal Your Dreams”  Wear your pajamas
Fri - “No Tricks About It, We Are Drug Free”  Wear your Halloween costume!

If we hit 100% schoolwide, there will be a school wide celebration of some sort - in the past we have “dunked” staff members and almost had the Kona Ice Truck for the entire school!

If you are interested in being a watchdog, please get cleared as a volunteer then call the office to schedule a date that works for you and the school.  Pleae give about a week for planning purposes. 

Traffic and Parking Awareness
No drop off or parking in the staff parking lot. Also No parking in North High/Edison Lot in the morning, (afternoon okay). Please either use the Valet drop off at the adjoining NHS/Edison parking lot or park in the neighborhood.

Label your jackets, lunchboxes and water bottles
Check our lost and found for clothing in front of our kinder yard.

PTA Paper Drive 
Please write your student’s and teacher’s name on the box and drop off or have it delivered.  Each student who donates a ream will receive a Keep it Real and if you donate a case then you will receive a Golden Keep it Real.

ATTENDANCE - KEEP YOUR CHILDREN AT HOME IF THEY ARE SICK    
In an abundance of caution, please keep your child at home if they are ill. Be sure to contact our school health assistant sub Lilliana Briseno (who is filling in for Ms. Lajoy Atkins). You can reach our health tech sub at briseno.lillianna@tusd.org, or call 310-533-4513 x 2883.

If your child is absent for any other reason, please email EdisonAttendance@tusd.org, email the teacher or call the office and dial extension #2.
If your child will be absent three or more days, please contact your child’s teacher and the office for an independent contract to get a work packet and receive attendance credit.
