Journey Through Art

Journey through Art image/logoOur Journey through Art program is a volunteer run fine art program aiming to teach students about art history and to experience different media and learn art techniques. It is a non-judgmental program that fosters the student’s own expression of their creativity. The program is sponsored by the Casimir PTSA, and all materials are supplied by the PTA.

We are always in need of volunteers. There are 3 ways to volunteer:

DOCENT – Attend 3 workshops for training - one in October, January, and March.  A professional artist teaches you an exciting art project step by step. After each workshop, you will teach that project to the students, a 15-20 minute art history on Thursday and project on Friday. You can even work in your own child’s classroom.

ASSISTANT – Assist docents during the classroom project with set up, clean up, and students. Just be there to help! (No workshops or teaching required.)

MATERIALS PREP – Prepare materials as needed for a project. This may entail cutting, sorting, and/or basic preparation, and can be done outside of school hours in your home.

All volunteers need to fill out a volunteer form, and turn in a copy of your drivers' license and TB Risk Assessment or if you already have it, current negative mantoux TB test (good for 4 years) to the office. This is a school requirement.
