Book Return & Locker Clean-Out for 6th & 7th Graders

Book Return & Locker Clean-Out for 6th & 7th Graders

Hello Parents and Guardians of 6th and 7th Grade Students!

(8TH GRADE STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL MONDAY NIGHT WITH DETAILS OF THEIR MATERIALS RETURN AND GIFTS/AWARDS PICK UP)

We hope everyone is healthy and safe.  In consideration of our school closure and Safer at Home protocol, we have to restructure how students will return their textbooks, novels, and library books (INSTRUMENTS WILL BE RETURNED LATER – MR. G WILL EMAIL BAND STUDENTS WITH DETAILS) and clean out their academic and PE lockers.  To ensure the safety of our students, families and staff members, students will return their supplies on a staggered schedule in alphabetical order. Students will only be allowed on campus for 15 minute intervals, so plan accordingly.

The returns will begin on Tuesday, June 2nd, and end on Friday, June 5th starting at 8:15 am each day.  Students that checked out a Chromebook will be scheduled to return their device directly to Ms. Marin or Mr. Loaiza in the front office on June 11th and 12th so as not to miss any instruction.  If you are unable to make your scheduled time please email marin.yvonne@tusd.org or loaiza.pete@tusd.org

There will be 4 days combined for 6th and 7th grade students to return materials, to minimize student interaction.  There will be approximately 40 students or less every hour, allowing for 10 students every 15 minutes.

Book Checkout Schedule

Students will enter at the main entrance to campus from Talisman Street and walk to each of their classrooms following the arrows on the map to place instruments, textbooks, novels, and library books in bins outside of the classrooms/library and then proceed to the changing room to retrieve their PE clothes and locks from their PE lockers (if needed). They will then move on to their academic lockers for clean out (if needed).

Book Return Map

While students return supplies, one parent may accompany them or parents may wait in their cars or in front of the school for students

Staff members will wear masks.  Antibacterial gel will be provided.  Staff members will be along the route, marked with cones to ensure that students maintain a social distance of 6 ft.

All students and parents/guardians must wear masks.

Once the process is completed, students will exit campus by the library and staff parking lot (please see map), be directed back to their vehicle, and proceed home.

Preparing Your Books for Return

For each class you need to return books for, do the following:

  • Write your Student Name, your Teacher’s Name, and today’s date on a piece of paper.
  • Place this label, and your book, in a clear, sealable bag (if possible).
  • Once on campus during your scheduled time, place the bag in the bin outside that teacher’s classroom.
  • For a sample and more information, watch this video: Book Return Video.

Please view the attachments for the date and time your child is to be on campus to return materials, how to return books, and a map of the campus.

**Yearbooks are expected to be shipped to Jefferson on June 27th.  We will let you know when they are here and when you can pick them up.

Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy message - there are many important details to make note of.

With Care,
