Team Jaguar,

Reminder:  School is closed next week for Thanksgiving vacation.

The following has been messaged to all 8th grade students:  If you are an 8th grade student interested in applying to CAMS high school please request an appointment with Ms. Balooch and provide her with the printed Counselor Recommendation form. You must meet with her by Monday, December 9th at the latest.  Also, if you have questions or concerns regarding the application process please speak to Ms. Balooch directly, do not have your parents contact her as it is a part of the process to show your independence.

I am sincerely thankful for being here at Jefferson Middle School.  I work with amazing students who constantly remind me of what is important in life.  We have a caring passionate staff and supportive families.  There's no better place to be!  :)

Have a most wonderful week and we will see you back at school on Monday, December 2, 2019.

In partnership with South Bay Families Connected, and for Red Ribbon Week, we want to provide you with some important information for parents, now, and throughout the year, about substance use prevention, with a particular focus on vaping. Here are a few helpful links:

Vaping Prevention Assembly at Torrance High School, Daily Breeze article:

Also, South Bay/TUSD Families Connected has amazing opportunities for families to learn and be informed together.  The Families Connect Speaker Series is awesome.  The upcoming speaker is published author, Katie Hurley, LCSW, who will be speaking on "How to Be a Good Friend:  Helping Your Child Develop Healthy Peer Relationships".  We often hear parents say how they wish they could choose their child's friends, well  let's empower our children to make good choices and learn how to build positive healthy relationships.  If you click on the link below you can read more about this and other events/resources that South Bay Families Connected has for all South Bay parents.  You need to RSVP for the speaker series as space is limited and the location for this particular speaker is Redondo Union H.S. (it is not for just RBUSD parents - it is open to all South Bay families).  Please take advantage of these amazing opportunities!
