Torrance Unified School District Measures T and U Project Summary District-Wide

Safety and Security - All schools will be upgraded to ensure the safety and security of all students, to include:

  • Add security cameras
  • Enhance exterior lighting and upgrade fences to improve student safety
  • Upgrade emergency containers in compliance with school disaster preparedness plans

Technology and Science - 

  • Measure T funds will provide technology upgrades at all schools in five-year intervals. Computers and other equipment will be leased, not purchased, to allow the District to refresh systems and upgrade outdated technology.
  • Upgrade electrical systems and infrastructure to keep pace with advances in technology.

Energy-Efficiency Upgrades - 

  • Irrigation systems at all schools will be upgraded to save water and provide cost savings.
  • Upgrade and/or replace roofs and plumbing as facilities age.

Middle Schools - 

  • New gymnasiums to bring middle schools up to current standards.
  • Replace student lockers at all middle schools.
