JMS Online Registration is Open NOW through 5/13

Hello Team Jefferson,

We are excited to announce that the ONLINE registration window for the 2020-2021 school year is now OPEN!  The registration window will be open for ONE (1) week and is set to close on Wednesday, May 13th.

Every student can now register for ALL classes (Math, English, Science, and Social Studies), including selecting their top 2-3 (6 graders choose 2 & 7th/8th graders select 3) elective requests through the student and parent portal of PowerSchool.   The following link (http://ps.tusd.org/public/) will direct you to the PowerSchool log-in screen to begin the online registration process.

Attached is a step by step tutorial on how to navigate your way through the PowerSchool online registration process.  Please use this tutorial to ensure that you are able to move all the way through registration and finalize your course requests.

PLEASE SEE  ATTACHMENT: Tutorial for Online Registration

ALL 6th graders will take the same 4 CORE classes (English, Science, Social Studies, and PE) and will have the option to request a Math and 2 elective options of their choice.  Math and Elective requests are finalized and granted once online registration is closed and ALL Jefferson students have registered.

ALL 7th graders will take the same 4 CORE classes (English, Science, Social Studies, and PE) and will have the option to request a Math and 3 elective options of their choice.  Math and Elective requests are finalized and granted once online registration is closed and ALL Jefferson students have registered.

ALL 8th graders will take the same 3 CORE classes (English, Social Studies, and PE) and will have the option to request a Math, Science (if you are selected to take Science at West High) and 3 elective options of their choice.  Math and Elective requests are finalized and granted once online registration is closed and ALL Jefferson students have registered.

For students who already applied to take classes at West, WHS will determine space availability for 8th graders in July and inform schools in August the names of students able to take classes at WHS.

A student will be granted an elective from the requests they submit.  First elective requests are NOT guaranteed.

Online registration will ONLY be to select which course you are requesting to take and NOT which teacher's class you would like to be in.  All classes are randomly filled based on enrollment numbers (in each grade level) and students are randomly spread out among all teachers to ensure balanced class sizes.  We DO NOT take teacher requests for registration of courses.

As always, we are here to assist so please do not hesitate to email me directly with any quesitons regarding this new and exciting way of registering for classes.  Thank you for all your support as we continue to power through this time of the year and distance learning.  Wishing all our teachers, staff members, students, and families health and well being as we move forward together.  All the best.

Mr. Pete Loaiza, Assistant Principal
