Casimir Awarded California Distinguished School!

Casimir Awarded California Distinguished School!

Congratulations Casimir Community for being recognized as a California Distinguished School!

A component of the California School Recognition Program, the California Distinguished Schools Program recognizes schools in alternate years and allows eligible schools to apply once every two years.  Schools recognized as awardees hold the title for two years. Casimir was nominated to apply based on our performance and progress on the state indicators as described on the California School Dashboard.  Indicators include test scores, suspension rates, and graduation rates.

Casimir chose to feature our success for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), which emphasizes  school-wide systems of support that include proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.  PBIS is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture and needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success.  Attention is focused on creating and sustaining school-wide, classroom, and individual systems of support for all youth by making targeted misbehavior less effective, efficient, and relevant, and desired behavior more functional.

Thank you to the Casimir Middle School staff, students and school community! This award represents the values that we all place on collaboration, dedication, and teamwork.  Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
