Our active clubs at Bert Lynn Middle School
CJSF Rules: The California Junior Scholarship Federation welcomes seventh and eighth graders who’ve been on honor roll in all their years at Bert Lynn Middle School to volunteer and make our community a better place. We ask all members to spend at least 10 hours per quarter helping out both the school and volunteering for any other organizations throughout Torrance and the South Bay. We meet once a month to discuss the current events taking place within Bert Lynn and to plan our community service activities.
What is CJSF: The California Junior Scholarship Federation, or CJSF for short, is an organization through which students can volunteer and give back to their community in a variety of meaningful ways. CJSF is the largest organization in Bert Lynn and students volunteer both inside and outside of school, lending a helping hand in any way they can. Later on in their Scholarship career, students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships. But for now, CJSF remains to foster high standards of scholarship, citizenship, and service.
Student Council is a student-centered club where we brainstorm and carry out events that serve the purpose of boosting school spirit in Bert Lynn. We strive to create a more inclusive learning environment, especially after many students haven't gotten the middle school experience due to our year in quarantine. Members help regulate anything from the Spirit Weeks to the school dances, and the Student Council is here to Bert Lynn Middle School a more welcoming and enjoyable place for both students and staff!
The library club are the stewards of the library. We volunteer during tutorial and lunch to help maintain Bert Lynn's library. Projects for the current year include a year-long project of us labeling every book and organizing them by genre. We also recommend new titles and give input on the current titles in the collection. The library is the school's living room and we work to ensure an informative, fun, and always interesting environment.
