Mrs. Sonia Boba
3rd Grade Teacher
Hi Fern Falcons!
I’m Mrs Boba and this is my second year with our Fern family. I spent one year as a Student Teacher and I am currently an Intervention Teacher. I was born in Jamaica and raised in Chicago where I met my husband. We have been married for 20 years and have one daughter. I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of San Francisco (Go, Dons!), and my Master of Arts in Teaching and Gifted Education certification from the University of Southern California (Fight On!).
When not teaching, I enjoy watching soccer, knitting, or curling up with a good book and my kitty, Aria. I also run a nonprofit aimed at funding local Jamaican charities, which provide resources and sports equipment to children from marginalized, rural communities.
I built a 20-year career in the private sector before receiving my call to the teaching vocation while volunteering as an Art Teacher in my daughter’s elementary school. Watching my Art students’ eyes light up during their “aha!” moments filled my bucket; I knew then and there I wanted to become a teacher. I continued to volunteer teach for 6 years before making it official and obtaining my multiple subject teaching credential.
I am proud to call Fern home; I love our rich diversity, the passionate, caring teachers and staff, and our nurturing culture which fosters a strong sense of community amongst our students and families.
