Mrs. Sonia Boba

I’m Mrs Boba and I am a third grade teacher and GATE site coordinator here at Fern. I was born in Jamaica and raised in Chicago where I met my husband.  We have been married for 22 years and have one daughter. I received my Bachelor of Science from the University of San Francisco (Go, Dons!), and my Master of Arts in Teaching and Gifted Education certification from the University of Southern California (Fight On!). 

When not teaching, I enjoy watching soccer, knitting, running sprints with Mr. Boba, or curling up with a good book and my kitty, Aria.  My husband and I also run a nonprofit organization aimed at funding local Jamaican charities, which provide resources and sports equipment to children from the island's marginalized, rural communities. 

I am proud to call Fern home: I love our richly diverse student body; the passionate, caring teachers and staff; and our nurturing culture which fosters a strong sense of community amongst our staff, students and families.
