Homework

I am assigning reading on Raz kids for 15 minutes and working on ST math for 12 minutes. I will also be sending home worksheets and assignments as needed in a weekly homework folder which will be handed out on Mondays and returned Fridays as well as a grade-wide Monthly project with their own specific due dates written on the instructions.

Absences

Please make sure to send a note with your child after an absence from school. This note should be include the date of the absence and a brief explanation of why they were absent. I have included absence forms in this packet.

Late to School

When arriving late to school, your child must first stop at the office to get a yellow tardy slip. They must bring the slip to the classroom.

Doctor Appointments

If you are picking your child up early for an appointment, please make sure to stop at the office first to receive a yellow slip. Children are not permitted out of the classroom without the yellow slip.

Classroom Discipline

Self control and discipline are major aspects of life within and outside of the classroom. The Victor Values (Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe and Use Your Best Effort) are the foundations of our classroom policy. Students may receive Victor Vouchers, Scholar Dollars as well as earning classroom marbles in order to earn a classroom prize.

Reports and Progress Reports

Progress reports will be sent home midway through the trimester: October, January, and April. The reports should be reviewed with your child, signed and returned to school. I will also be including work samples and tests to review with your child. Report Cards will be sent home in December, March and June. Please sign the report card envelope and return it to school the next day. Parent Teacher conferences will be held in December and March. Students will be dismissed at 2:12 during conference days.

Students will receive the following marks on their progress reports:

E= Excellent                    V= Very Good S=Satisfactory

N=Needs Improvement                U= Unsatisfactory

Progress reports are separated by subject and further into sub-groups. If your child has an X next to the different sub-groups under the larger heading, this indicates that this area is an area of difficulty for them.

Students will receive the following marks on their Achievement Reports:

1=Limited progress towards this skill                  2= Progressing towards this skill

3= Consistently demonstrated skills

Students are striving to obtain 3’s by the end of the school year, meaning they have mastered the task at a skill level which is appropriate for their grade.

Birthday Books

We would love to celebrate your child in the classroom. Due to curriculum, students’ food allergies and the school Wellness Policy, we will not be having classroom birthday parties. I would instead suggest your child celebrate their birthday by donating a book, board game or supply to the classroom. This will bring new books to out classroom and encourage reading. Please note that this is only a suggestion.

Scholastic Reading Club

Each month your child will bring home a Scholastic Reading Club order form. Checks should be payable to Scholastic Reading Club, cash or you can order books online using a credit card. When ordering online, please use the code: phvzt.
