Mrs. Christie Forshey has been an educator for 30 years and is a product of Torrance Unified School District. She grew up in Torrance and attended John Adams, J.H. Hull and Torrance High School. She began her teaching career at Towers Elementary School, became the Assistant Principal at Hickory Elementary School and is now serving her 21st year as Riviera Elementary School’s Principal.
Mrs. Forshey completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies- Creative Writing and her Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential at CSULB. She received her Master’s Degree and Administrative Credential from Pepperdine University. Mrs. Forshey is a published poet and writer. Recently published is a joint writing project titled Piers of the California Coast.
On a personal note, Christie Forshey is married with three children. Her son, Theo & oldest daughter, Nina are both in college and youngest daughter, Ruby is in 12th grade. Christie enjoys spending time with her husband Jeff and family, taking long walks, reading & watching her childrens' extracurricular activities. Special accolades include Torrance Jaycees Outstanding Young Educator Award, ACSA Co-Administrator of the Year Award, PTA’s Very Special Person Award, two Distinguished School Awards and PTA’s Golden Oak Service Award.
Working within a school community with students, teachers and parents is a gift and Mrs. Forshey enjoys the role of being a lifelong learner and facilitator of change in education.
