Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF): Unraveling the Mystery of California School Finance and Its Impact on TUSD

Torrance, CA – The California Education funding model is complicated and can be difficult to understand. Join us on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 7 pm at Torrance High School as we explain some of the complexities of California school finance.

During the presentation we will provide a brief history on how schools have been funded in California and how we are still grappling with the effects of those policy decisions today. We will discuss and clarify some common misconceptions about school funding, such what being “fully funded” means and how much we actually receive from the lottery. Learn how TUSD compares to other districts in per-pupil funding and the importance of the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) in directing services to meet student needs.

During the meeting you will hear from TUSD Superintendent Dr. George Mannon, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Tim Stowe, and President of School Services of California, John Gray.

The information session will take place at Torrance High School, which is located at 2200 W Carson Street in Torrance. The information session will take place in the main auditorium (entrance off of El Prado and Watson Ave).
