Shared Vision Statement
To ensure the future development and growth of Howard Wood Elementary, we must have a clear sense of the goals we are trying to accomplish, the characteristics of the school we hope to become, and the contributions of the stakeholders in order to transform our vision into reality.
- Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment
Howard Wood’s rigorous and standards-based curriculum promotes intellectual curiosity, creative thinking, and challenges students to reach their full potential. Instruction is differentiated and engaging—providing support to be successful across grade levels. The use of common formative assessments guides instruction and aids teachers in meeting the learning needs of all students.
- Emphasis on the Individual Student Equity and Access for All
Howard Wood Elementary values the well-rounded child. A variety of instructional strategies are used to inspire all students to be active participants in their learning. Each child is challenged to reach their maximum learning potential. A focus on encouraging student responsibility and promoting good character translates to success in elementary school and beyond.
- Working within a Professional Learning Community
Howard Wood fosters a collaborative culture where its members respect, support and encourage each other. The staff works interdependently analyzing results to guide and inform instruction. Our school community believes their efforts, improvements, and achievements will be recognized and celebrated.
