FalconsParents/Guardians at Fern Elementary

Sometimes a need arises for a parent or guardian to come to the Fern campus. Sometimes students leave homework, lunch or sweaters at home. At other times a student may need to leave early for a doctor’s appointment or other reason. TUSD (Torrance Unified School District) requires all visitors to first check in at the front office.

Visitors must sign in and out.

Additionally, some parents or family members may want to help in a child’s classroom, go on field trips with the children or help with a PTA event on campus like the Fun Run. In order to be on campus during the school day, parents or family members must complete a volunteer application and have a current negative TB test on file. The application can be found in the front office at school or on our website ( After you turn these in, TUSD will run a background check and approve you for on campus activities. The front office will be notified when you are cleared. Please make sure to check in with the school office first when you arrive on campus to volunteer.
