Mrs. Peace Takata

I’m Mrs. Takata and I am the Reading Recovery Teacher / Primary Literary Specialist at Fern Elementary. I attended Edison Elementary as a child and graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.A. in Asian American Studies. I earned my teaching credential and M.A  in Education from Pepperdine University and my post graduate Reading Recovery training through Saint Mary’s College.  

My teaching experience includes being a classroom teacher for first, second and third grades and working as a Reading Recovery teacher for the past 7 years. I have a passion for childhood literacy and working with struggling students. My goal is to help students reach their potential by having high expectations, increasing engagement and making learning enjoyable for ALL learners. 

I love living and working in Torrance with my husband and two children. When not working, I enjoy traveling, going to concerts and to the theater and spending time with family and friends. It is my joy and privilege to work with the wonderful students at Fern Elementary and being a part of our amazing learning community!
