About Our Principal

Mrs. Jayne Okazaki, Edison's PrincipalMy name is Mrs. Okazaki and I feel very fortunate to have been selected as the principal of Edison Elementary School. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles, and came to Torrance as a teacher in 1991. After graduating from high school, I earned my bachelor's degree and teaching credential from Cal State University of Los Angeles. I later received my Master's in Education: Teaching and Curriculum from California State University of Dominguez Hills, then got my administrative credential at National University.

I have spent my entire career in TUSD; first, as an elementary and reading recovery teacher at Victor Elementary School, Special Projects Resource Teacher for the District office, then as the Assistant Principal at Bert Lynn, Magruder, and Hull Middle Schools, then finally back as the Assistant Principal at Victor Elementary. These experiences have given me a solid understanding of what elementary students need in order to be prepared and successful in all levels of education: elementary school, middle school, high school and life beyond their K-12 education.

My belief is that all students can succeed, and decisions are made based upon what is best for our students. At Edison, we have many things to be proud of and I look forward to getting to know you and your wonderful children. I am fortunate to be a part of this amazing learning community!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Jayne Okazaki
Principal, Edison Elementary School
