Approximately 1 in 5 youth (13-18) experiences a mental illness and only 41 % of people with a mental illness in the past year received services (mentalhealthfirst aid.org). In order to combat the stigma of mental health, TUSD is kicking off a campaign to increase awareness of mental health issues and to reduce the stigma of accessing mental health services.
There is a Poster/Video contest for students (scroll down for flyer & guidelines to enter) to create a positive message to reduce the stigma of seeking help for mental health issues. Students who are interested can create a poster or a video (2 min max) and submit by May 31, 2019.
