Save Our Schools

Find Out How!

May 04, 2008

The jewel of the City of Torrance is the community of schools that make-up the Torrance Unified School District.  Families move to Torrance because they want their children to have the best education.  TUSD students continuously meet and exceed State and National standards, distinguishing themselves as the best of the best. However, as the economic environment in our State becomes increasingly grim it becomes increasingly difficult to continue to provide our students the quality education they deserve.  Due to the Governor’s proposed budget, teachers will be laid off, creating larger class sizes and less personal attention for each student.  Custodial crews will be decreased, creating less than adequate learning environments.  Music, art, and other extra curricular programs will be cut, depriving our students of competitive enrichment opportunities.

TUSD and Torrance Education Foundation are joining other school districts in California by urging parents, community members, and business partners to help offset the devastating losses our schools are facing because of the extreme budget cuts from Sacramento.  In times of economic hardship our family, friends, and neighbors are the ones who can help us get through these lean times in order to ensure a sound educational future for our children. In the next few days Torrance community members will be receiving a letter explaining what they can do to help ensure Torrance students continue to receive an excellent education.  The public education system of a city reflects the priorities and values of that community. The Torrance Community’s priority should be the education of its children. Please make a contribution today to Save our Schools!
