Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association Concert
This year, for the first time, most of TUSD’s middle and high school bands will be performing at the Armstrong Theatre at an adjudicated festival on Wednesday, April 2nd. This is an opportunity for the groups to perform locally. Below is a performance schedule for the festival, which is sponsored by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA) and hosted by TUSD’s music directors. Each group will be on-stage for their designated 1/2 hour and will perform 2 or 3 selections. Groups are rated from "Superior" (1) to "Poor" (5) based on a number of established criteria: instrumentation, intonation, blend & balance, musicality, etc. After their performance, they go to another room for "sight-reading" where they play a piece for a judge that they have never seen before. Performance & Sight-reading results are tabulated, and results will be posted approximately 45 minutes after each performance.
The James Armstrong Theatre is located at 3330 Civic Center Drive in Torrance. There is no charge to attend this event.
