CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Griffith at 3:30 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES –Regular Meeting of October 16, 2007
Dr. Klonecky moved, seconded by Mr. Furey, that the Minutes of the Regular Meeting of October 16, 2007 be approved. Motion carried 3/0.
APPROVAL OF ELIGIBILITY LISTS- Behavior Analyst, Child Development Instructor, Child Development Program Assistant - Tier II, Food Services Assistant, Food Services Satellite Operator, Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, Software Specialist
Dr. Klonecky moved, seconded by Mr. Furey, that the Eligibility Lists – Behavior Analyst, Child Development Instructor, Child Development Program Assistant - Tier II, Food Services Assistant, Food Services Satellite Operator, Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, and Software Specialist be approved. Motion carried 3/0.
APPROVAL OF 2008 PROPOSED PERSONNEL COMMISSION MEETING SCHEDULE
Dr. Klonecky moved, seconded by Mr. Furey, that the 2008 proposed Personnel Commission meeting schedule be approved. Motion carried 3/0.

COMMENTS FROM STAFF
Dr. Koga noted the importance of employees being duly compensated to attend required training. She added that she advised employees to request compensatory time if they were required to attend training outside of their paid status work day. [PC Rule 8.3.8 Required Training or Inservicing of Employees]
Dr. Koga reported that she attended the CODESP Job Analysis training, which introduced a new online job analysis program that aids in the creation of job descriptions.
Mr. Tietze highlighted the fourth session of the Oceanside Merit Academy on November 3, 2007 and noted he particularly enjoyed Mr. Steve Sonnich’s presentation on Worker’s Compensation. Ms. Kwan noted that the presenters Mr. Bob Guerrero and Mr. Sonnich were very knowledgeable on the topics of Leaves of Absences and Discrimination Laws, respectively, and was pleased that they used real world examples to illustrate problems in these areas.
COMMENTS FROM PERSONNEL COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Furey stated he was pleased with the high turnout and participation at the Northwest Torrance Homeowner’s Association School Board Candidate Forum on October 25, 2007 at the North High School Library.
Mr. Furey reported that the Northwest Torrance Homeowner’s Association successfully planted 14 Cork Oak Trees on October 27, 2007 along Crenshaw Boulevard between 177th and 180th Streets.
Dr. Griffith reported on the Educational Council of Torrance Luncheon, featuring Arnold Elementary School, on November 6, 2007 at the Ken Miller Recreation Center.
Dr. Griffith announced that The Torrance Arts Council is presenting the Retro USO Show on November 11, 2007, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Western Museum of Flight at the Zamperini Airport. He added that the proceeds will be distributed to graduating seniors in the performing arts at Torrance schools.
Dr. Griffith thanked everyone who spoke generously on his behalf at the Board of Education meeting on October 22nd where the board members nominated him as their appointee to the Personnel Commission.
Dr. Koga noted that the Board of Education would subsequently conduct a public hearing and officially announce their appointment to the Personnel Commission on Monday, November 26, 2007.
