COMMENTS FROM STAFF
Dr. Koga noted that the 2007 reclassification period ended on February 15th with the submission of 75 applications, of which 72 will proceed to consultant interviews. She added that two applications were ineligible because the employees did not meet the minimum two-year “on-the-job” requirement and one application was submitted after the deadline.
Dr. Koga noted the upcoming Personnel Commissioners Association of Southern California (PCASC) quarterly meeting on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at 5:30 p.m.
COMMENTS FROM PERSONNEL COMMISSIONERS
Dr. Griffith discussed the California School Personnel Commissioners Association conference held on February 16-18, 2007 in Long Beach, CA. He apologized to Dr. Klonecky for not being recognized at the conference for his 18 outstanding years on the Personnel Commission. Dr. Griffith also commented on the sessions he attended, in particular the one held by our attorney, Kristine Kwong, and John Jarboe. He noted both speakers were very good and informative.
Mr. Furey said he enjoyed the conference wherein the relationship between the Personnel Commission and the Board of Education was clarified. He pointed out that the Personnel Commission is an independent body, not accountable to another District entity and that this reporting relationship is different from the relationship between the Civil Service Commission and the Torrance City Council.
CLOSED SESSION
Evaluation of the Director-Personnel Commission. No action taken
