CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Klonecky at 6:30 p.m.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Dr. McCann.
DISCUSSION OF RESOLUTION TO APPROVE A TITLE AND SUMMARY FOR A CITIZEN PETITION UNDER EDUCATION CODE §45319
Personnel Commissioners discussed the Resolution to Approve a Title and Summary for a Citizen Petition Under Education Code §45319 with legal counsel, Betty Ann Downing of Smith Kaufman LLP, Attorneys.Attorney Downey presented the Personnel Commissioners with a legal analysis of the information presented (correspondence attached).
MOTION TO ADD ITEM -- APPROVAL OF EMPLOYMENT OF LEGAL COUNSEL
Mr. Busch moved, seconded by Dr. Griffith, that Approval of Employment of Legal Counsel be added. Motion carried 3/0.
APPROVAL OF EMPLOYMENT OF LEGAL COUNSEL
Mr. Busch moved, seconded by Dr. Griffith, that the Law Firm of Smith Kaufman LLP be hired to represent the Personnel Commission pursuant to Commission Rule 2.7.1 at an hourly rate of $275 for partners and $225-$250 per hour for associate attorneys. The complete fee arrangement is as set forth in the formal fee agreement. The Chair of the Personnel Commission or other Commissioner acting on his behalf is authorized to sign this formal agreement. Motion carried 3/0.At 7:05 p.m., Dr. Klonecky left the meeting. Dr. Griffith then assumed the role as Chair of the Personnel Commission.
