August 10, 2004

CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Dr. Klonecky at 3:30 p.m.

PRESENT

Personnel Commissioners:
Dr. Harold M. Klonecky
Dr. Owen H. Griffith
Mr. Steven M. Busch

Dr. Donald R. McCann, Director-Personnel Commission
Ms. Kris Koga, Personnel Analyst

PLACE AND DATEOF MEETING
Torrance Unified School District Board Room, 2336 Plaza del Amo, Torrance, August 10, 2004.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mr. Busch.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES -- July 13, 2004 and July 23, 2004
Mr. Busch moved, seconded by Dr. Griffith, that the minutes of the regular meeting of July 13, 2004 and the special meeting of July 23, 2004 be approved. Motion carried 3/0.

APPROVAL OF ELIGIBILITY LISTS- Credential Technician and School Secretary II
Dr. Griffith moved, seconded by Mr. Busch, that the Eligibility Lists -- Credential Technician and School Secretary II be approved: Motion carried 3/0.

APPROVAL OF ANNUAL REPORT, 2003-2004
Mr. Busch moved, seconded by Dr. Griffith, that the Annual Report, 2003-2004 be approved: Motion carried 3/0.Dr. McCann indicated that a copy of the Annual Report was included in each Personnel Commission agenda sent to the Board of Education members and the Superintendent. This complies with the Personnel Commission Rules and Regulations, Section 2.6.Mr. Busch requested copies be made available to visitors, including employees, when they come to the Personnel Commission office.

COMMENTS FROM PERSONNEL COMMISSIONERS
Mr. Busch requested that staff place an item on the next agenda to permanently change the time of the Personnel Commission meetings to 3:30 p.m. He noted that there had been audience participation and it was better for staff to meet at this time.

COMMENTS FROM THOSE IN ATTENDANCE
Peggy Shannon, CSEA Labor Relations Representative, revisited the issue of Mr. Shamblin's transfer from Library Media Technician to Office Assistant III.Charles Shamblin additionally addressed the Commission concerning a transfer from Library Media Technician to Office Assistant III in EMB.

ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
