Statement of Nondiscrimination

The Torrance Unified School District does not discriminate on the basis of actual or perceived ethnic group identification, religion, sexual orientation, ancestry, gender, race, color, national origin (including lack of English language skills), sex (including sexual harassment), handicap (or disability), or age in any of its policies, procedures, or practices, in compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (pertaining to race, color, and national origin), Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (pertaining to sex), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1983 (pertaining to handicap), and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975 (pertaining to age). This nondiscrimination policy covers admission and access to, and treatment and employment in, the District's programs and activities, including vocational education.
The District has a uniform complaint procedure that would allow the filing of a grievance/complaint. Local community legal assistance agencies are available. Legal resources can be located in the telephone book under legal services.
