The collection of wage and salary data to determine the current wage for benchmark, or targeted, positions. The data is usually gathered from other comparable agencies.
Under the Personnel Commission Rules and Regulations, an annual classified salary survey is conducted to help determined like-pay for like-service. The benchmark positions and comparable school districts are designated by the collective bargaining agreements with the Board of Education and CSEA 19 or SEIU 99. (Personnel Commission Rule 17.1.4)
The annual salary survey information is used to prepare recommendations for classified salary schedules to be the approved by the Board of Education.
