Leave of Absence
An approved absence from duty, with or without pay, for a prescribed period of time. 

All leave of absence requests must be submitted and approved by Human Resources.

Types of Leave    

	Sick Leave Extended Sick Leave Industrial Accident/Illness Leave
	Bereavement Leave Personal Necessity Leave Pregnancy/Maternity Disability Leave
	Jury Duty Leave Witness Leave Military Leave
	Leaves of Absence Without Pay Voter Leave of Absence Family Care Leave - Unpaid

Catastrophic Sick Leave
Catastrophic Leave provisions permit unit members to withdraw sick leave credits from a Catastrophic Leave Bank when that unit member or member of his/her immediate family (as defined in Education Code 44985) suffers from a catastrophic illness or injury.

Note: Collective Bargaining Agreements supersede the Personnel Commission rules.  Union members please refer to your agreement for details.
